Rusting cruise ship 21st century makeover

A clapped out cruiser has been given a vivid revamp

The disused wreck of the Duke of Lancaster cruise liner has been given a 21st century makeover by a group of aspiring street artists.

First grounded in the Dee Estuary in Flintshire, North Wales back in 1979, the liner has spent much of the last three decades developing into something of an eyesore for the local community.

But a group of graffiti artists recently took action, as the Metro reports, transforming the liner into a vibrant outdoor art gallery adorned with a series of Banksy-inspired images.

Street artists from Britain, Russia, Latvia and Hungary have all worked on the imaginative project, with eight different images created across the 18m high 14m wide rusting canvass.

Now motorists travelling the A548 coastal road between Flint and Prestatyn can enjoy the imaginative project first hand.

Speaking to the news provider, regular visitor Ian Cameron said: “I’m not a big fan of graffiti but I love what these chaps have done. They’ve really pushed the boat out!”

The world of art and cruises collided again last year, when Peter Max unveiled his vivid hull design for the new Norwegian Breakaway cruise liner.

I live approximation 15 miles away from the old girl, and remember her arriving to be opened as a hotel/nightclub, but due to the rail line bridge being to low and the fire engines can’t reach the ship if there was an accident.  I would love somebody with some spare cash spend some TLC, if i was ever lucky, and won the lotto i would spend the time and effort she needs.
