High rollers on the high seas now have more to look forward to aboard Carnival Cruise Line.

A refresh of the Carnival Players Club casino program is bringing new offers and experiences to the table. And, the benefits apply ashore, as well.

The program includes a new “Dealer’s Choice” offer with exclusive cruise savings opportunities, complimentary in-casino drinks for qualified guests, and invitation-only Carnival Players Club events.

Carnival has also upgraded several new programs that provide guests with an enhanced cruise and casino experience. Value-added benefits, privileges and exclusive events are based on the level of play. Four different program levels include Getaway, designed for players interested in a short vacation. It’s available on three- to five-day cruises. Guests receive extras such as in-stateroom gifts, priority check-in and luggage delivery, complimentary in-casino drinks for qualified players, and a chance to win up to $10,000 in free play, cash, and prizes.

The Premier level is for more avid players. Premier is available on cruises of six days or longer. Guests receive all the benefits of the Getaway program. Additionally, they receive a complimentary pre-cruise gift, priority debarkation, a special Welcome Aboard party, invitation-only casino tournaments, and a chance at $20,000 in free play, cash, and prizes every cruise.

Loyal players will receive an invitation to the Ultra level. They’ll receive all the benefits of the Premier program, plus a chance to win $100,000 in cash and gifts on board.

The Elite program is reserved for the line’s best players. It provides perks such as complimentary parking or local airport pick-up and drop-off; early stateroom access, complimentary drinks throughout the cruise; a free shore excursion and Wi-Fi; special Welcome Aboard and sail away parties, and VIFP Platinum status for the entire voyage.

“Carnival offers the most enjoyable and rewarding casinos aboard our 26 ships and with our enhanced Carnival Players Club program we’re providing our valued guests with a variety of expanded offers and unique experiences simply based on their level of play,” said Marty Goldman, Carnival’s senior vice president of global casino operations.

Additional enhancements to the program include new branding and logos, plus a new Carnival Players Club web site.

The line’s newest ship, Carnival Horizon, was christened in New York a few weeks ago.

Costa Luminosa Wins Carnival Corporation Environmental Award

Costa Luminosa Award Presentation

The Costa Luminosa took home Carnival Corporation’s Environmental Excellence Award, beating the company’s other ships across Carnival’s nine cruise brands.

Carnival asked each brand to enter one ship to be considered for the award, which was based on the best environmental performance during a 2017 audit period.

The 2009-built ship took home the top honours, going beyond compliance and fostering a culture of sustainable business, said Costa, in a statement.

The award was presented to Alberto Sturlese, the Fincantieri-built vessel’s environmental officer.

Costa President Neil Palomba emphasized the importance of the initiative and congratulated all the onboard colleagues for the results achieved in a ceremony, also noting a particularly challenging year focused on the ECP (Environmental Compliance Policy) implementation.

Queen Latifah Names Carnival Horizon

The Carnival Horizon was named by godmother Queen Latifah in a ceremony in New York on Wednesday evening that also showcased the talented young artists from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital whose artwork adorns the Dreamscape, a stunning three-deck-high LED sculpture in the ship’s atrium.

“Carnival Horizon’s naming ceremony was one of our best yet, with Queen Latifah carrying out her duties as godmother then battling it out with Super Bowl champion Jake Elliott of my hometown Philadelphia Eagles in an entertaining Lip Sync Battle,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We were also delighted to showcase the wonderfully talented children from St. Jude whose artwork on the Dreamscape will be forever associated with this spectacular ship.”

Added Latifah, “My time aboard Carnival Horizon was nothing short of incredible. In addition to having the honour of serving as the ship’s godmother, meeting the amazing kids from St. Jude and their families and squaring off against Jake in an all-out Lip Sync Battle is certainly something I will always cherish.”

Following the ceremony, Latifah squared off against Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champion Jake Elliott in Lip Sync Battle: Horizon modelled after the hit Paramount Network TV series and rolling out across the Carnival fleet.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital received a $100,000 donation from Carnival representing monies raised from various fundraisers, both onboard and ashore. The funds continue the line’s ongoing support of St. Jude with more than $16 million raised in the fight against childhood cancer since the partnership began in 2010.

“This is an absolute thrill for our patients and their families to have their artwork featured as a permanent display on this magnificent ship,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “The ongoing support of Carnival team members and their customers around the globe for our lifesaving mission plays a critical role in advancing research and treatment for pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases.”
