Carnival Firenze to Offer Third Casino on Selected Sailings

The Carnival Firenze will offer a third casino during selected sailings later this year, according to an update shared by the Carnival Players Club.

An additional non-smoking casino will be added to the ship for its SEA cruises, which sail between October and November 2026.

Carnival said that the third gambling venue will create even more opportunities for guests to enjoy their favorite games at sea.

The new venue will include additional slot machines and table games, the company added, giving passengers more ways to play during the adults-only sailings.

Members of the Carnival Players Club who reach the Elite tier will enjoy preferred access to the new gaming experience.

Originally built for Costa Cruises, the Vista-class ship currently offers two gambling areas, including a smokers-friendly main casino and a smaller, smoke-free casino.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, Carnival cancelled a series of sailings onboard the Carnival Firenze earlier this year to make room for the new SEA cruises.

The adults-only sailings will take place between October and November 2026, sailing to the West Coast and the Mexican Riviera.

Sailing from Long Beach, the seven- to 12-night itineraries will visit a wide range of destinations, including Manzanillo, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada.

As part of the company’s casino program, the sailings will cater to gamblers, with a series of gaming-focused activities and initiatives.

Following its SEA schedule, the Carnival Firenze is scheduled to offer additional sailings from California before repositioning to the East Coast in early 2027.

As part of the Carnival Fun Italian Style product, the 4,232-passenger ship offers Italian-themed spaces and venues.

Highlights include the Amari Italian-Style Bar, which serves traditional herbal liquors and bitters, in addition to favorites from the company’s signature Alchemy Bar.

Carnival to Reveal More Details on Destiny in November

After revealing the name and initial details of the new Carnival Destiny, Carnival Cruise Line will announce more about the new ship later this year.

According to the company’s President Christine Duffy, a further announcement is scheduled for this November.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the first Ace-class vessel will carry the name previously used by the 1996-built Destiny.

“It’s back (to the future) but it’s looking forward because we are very excited to cut the steel on our beautiful Carnival Destiny,” Duffy said in an interview with Carnival’s Brand Ambassador John Heald.

“The next big update will probably come in November and then we’ll be talking more about it and putting out a link for people to learn more as we go forward,” she continued.

Carnival announced the name and first details of the new ship during an event at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on July 10, 2026.

In addition to introducing the first details of the first Ace-class ship, the gathering celebrated the partnership between the company and the shipbuilder.

According to John Heald, the event also marked the 30th anniversary of the delivery of the original Carnival Destiny.

Captain Giovanni Gallo, who brought the ship out of the shipyard for its inaugural season, was also present in Monfalcone.

“Thirty years ago, I was a young cruise director onboard… and a lot of the crew members and I will have memories of a pretty rough crossing across the Atlantic but mostly of the pride and the extraordinary pomp and circumstance that came with delivering the ship,” Heald said.

Then the world’s largest cruise ship, the 101,000-ton vessel, was the first built for Carnival by the Italian shipyard.

Fincantieri later built over 15 vessels for the U.S.-based brand, including the Carnival Panorama, which was the latest Carnival newbuild delivered by Fincantieri in 2019.

Carnival and the shipyard are now working together again for the three Ace-class vessels that are set to be delivered between 2029 and 2031.

New Festivale to Feature Carnival’s Biggest Waterpark

The Carnival Festivale will feature the biggest waterpark in Carnival Cruise Line’s history, the company announced in a press release.

Set to debut in 2027, the Excel-class ship will introduce Carnival Waterworks Ultra as part of the new Sunsation Point family adventure zone.

According to Carnival, the waterpark will feature six water slides designed for different age groups and adventure levels.

The lineup includes two family raft rides, SunSoaker and Turning Tides and duelling Racing Currents slides, as well as the Mini Racers double-slide and Mini Twister.

Other features of Waterworks Ultra include splash pads and shaded play areas for all ages, the company said.

Carnival also stated that the new venue will introduce the first nighttime Waterworks operation of its fleet, which will include a live DJ and other special features.

Taking over the area occupied by BOLT! on previous Excel-class ships, the waterpark will be located at Carnival Festivale’s Deck 18.

In addition to Carnival Waterworks Ultra, Sunsation Point will also offer a hub of family-friendly activities and dining options on Deck 16, as well as a pool, a splash pad and a bar.

Deck 17 is a place to rewind with nostalgic elements, Carnival said, including the Vault Retrocade, which combines a retro theme with modern arcade games.

The deck also features the Scenic Overlook, a sports bar that offers outdoor games like pool and giant Jenga, as well as a new mini-golf course and Treehouse, which is described by Carnival as an all-new concept with netted bridges high above the deck.

As the fourth ship in Carnival’s Excel class, the Carnival Festivale is currently being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Sailing from Port Canaveral, the ship is scheduled to offer seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas starting in May 2027.
