Disney Cruise Line fans will have two new ports to try in 2018, when the line has itineraries scheduled to call in Bermuda and Quebec City.

The Disney Magic will sail from New York in the fall of 2018 on five-day sailings that include two full days in Bermuda and six-day sailings that include three days in Bermuda.

Seven-day itineraries will depart both New York and Quebec City, with visits scheduled at Saguenay and Baie-Comeau.

From New York, the Disney Magic will also make seven-day round trips to Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, and Port Canaveral, where a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket plus complimentary round-trip transportation between the ship and the theme parks is included.

Disney Cruise Line will continue to put on its Star Wars Day at Sea in 2018, holding the event on 15 Disney Fantasy sailings to the Caribbean from January through April.

There will be 15 sailings with the Star Wars Day at Sea this year. Disney introduced the event in last year.

The event features a deck party with a fireworks display, character meet-and-greets, and Star Wars-themed family and youth activities.

Disneys said that Star Wars-themed beverages, snacks, dinner menu items and desserts “please the palates of everyone from Padawans to Rebel pilots to Tusken Raiders.”

The western Caribbean cruises depart Port Canaveral on Jan. 6 and 20; Feb. 3 and 17; March 3, 17 and 31; and April 14. The itinerary includes Cozumel, Mexico; Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, and Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

The eastern Caribbean cruises depart Jan. 13 and 27; Feb. 10 and 24; March 10 and 24; and April 7. The itinerary includes Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay.

Cruise lines alter plans because of Hurricane Joaquin

Hurricane Joaquin, a Category 3 storm packing winds of 120 mph, has forced several cruise lines to alter itineraries. The storm was battering the Out Islands of the Bahamas on Thursday morning.

The Carnival Valor is skipping a stop in Grand Turk on Thursday and will have a sea day. The Carnival Pride is bypassing Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas and will remain at sea.

Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess is bypassing a stop at private island Princess Cays. The Norwegian Getaway will stay at sea Thursday instead of calling in Nassau.

The Disney Magic will substitute a call in Key West, Fla., and bypass Castaway Cay in the Bahamas.

American relaxed its change-fee policy for customers on flights to Nassau or Freeport through Oct. 2.

Different forecast models predict Joaquin will either veer northwest and hammer the mid-Atlantic states this weekend or track northeast over the Atlantic.
