P&O cruise changes its Vaccination rules.

P&O Cruises is changing its vaccination policy for all Caribbean holidays on Britannia and Azura with all passengers now needing to be fully vaccinated.

The line’s president Paul Ludlow said its Covid-19 protocols “needed to evolve to the changing public health situation” which had prompted the change in policy.

“Given the long-haul destinations, the number of ports of call in different countries, combined with the current health protocols and entry requirements in the Caribbean, all guests of all ages will need to be fully vaccinated in order to travel on any Caribbean holiday up to and including 27 March 2022,” said Ludlow.

“This policy will also include our long Caribbean cruises on Ventura and Aurora leaving in January and February next year.

“As always, our priority is the health and well-being of all on board and we will contact those guests who may be affected by this change.”

The change comes as P&O Cruises prepares to restart cruises on Ventura, which will become the brand’s third ship to resume international trips on Sunday (3 October).

Ventura is setting sail for the Canary Islands on its restart cruise as P&O sees more demand for international voyages. The ship joins Iona and Britannia, which sailed around the UK during the summer before restarting international itineraries last month.

P&O plans to have four ships in operation by the end of the year with Azura due to resume operations in December 2021 when it joins Britannia for the Caribbean winter season.

The brand has previously announced plans to operate its full fleet of six ships by spring 2022 when Arcadia and Aurora will begin sailing again.

“Ventura’s international restart is the result of guest confidence in cruising and is the very latest stage of P&O Cruises sailing resumption as we work towards the return of our full fleet in spring 2022,” added Ludlow.

“Due to demand and the resounding endorsement of the first international holidays on Iona and Britannia we’ve opened up increased capacity to holiday with us.


“We’re proud to have four ships sailing internationally this year giving our guests a greater choice of where and when they travel with P&O Cruises for winter sun.”


Ventura is sailing on 12-night winter-sun trips to Spain and Portugal before a 35-night round-trip itinerary from Southampton to the Caribbean departing on 3 January 2022.

P&O Cruises extends cancellation of sailings into 2021

All P&O Cruises sailings have been cancelled until early 2021, the line confirmed today.
All Caribbean cruises are cancelled until the end of January 2021 and departures from and to Southampton will not operate until February.
The ships Arcadia and Aurora have already seen cancellations through to the end of their spring world cruises.
Passengers with bookings on a cancelled cruise will be notified and automatically receive an enhanced 125% future cruise credit or a 100% refund by filling out a web form, according to the line.
P&O Cruises had extended its pause in operations until November 12 and cancelled two extended itineraries due to depart in January 2021.
The line’s previous pause was in June until October 15 due to Covid-19 restrictions on cruise operations.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “With evolving restrictions on travel from the UK, unfortunately, it is necessary to cancel these itineraries.
“These further cancellations vary according to ship as well as complexity and length of itineraries, advice and guidance regarding ports of call and current air availability for fly/cruises.
“We are continuing to monitor the overall situation closely and will certainly reintroduce cruises should the opportunity arise and it is feasible to do so.”
Ludlow confirmed that the Carnival Corporation company is working with several of the “most brilliant minds in science as well as government at the highest level” on approved and enhanced health protocols, which will be in place once the company resumes sailing.
He added: “Whilst adherence to the protocols on board and ongoing vigilance will be critical, this will always be coupled with providing the well-deserved and memorable holidays for which we are known, with all the standout moments on board and experiences onshore. This is what we have always done and will continue to do.
“We cannot wait for restrictions to ease, borders to open and for us to once again be able to set sail for a new beginning.”

P&O Cruises Details Fleet Status

P&O Cruises UK has detailed the status of its cruise fleet in a recent update.

  • The Arcadia is en route to Southampton, due to arrive April 12. She will then berth in Southampton before relocating to Dover.
  • The Aurora arrived in Southampton on March 16 and is now en route to Dover where she will berth at Cruise Terminal 2.
  • The Azura is in the Caribbean heading to Barbados. All guests will fly home on Friday or Saturday. The ship will then sail home to the UK with no guests. She will then berth in Southampton prior to relocating to Portland.
  • The Britannia is en route to Southampton, due to arrive March 25 and will berth at the Mayflower Terminal.
  • The Oceana arrived in Southampton on March 18 and is now berthed in Dover at Cruise Terminal 1.
  • The Ventura arrived in Southampton on March 17 and remains at the Ocean Terminal.
