Disney Renames Global Dream Disney Adventure

Disney Cruise Line announced on Saturday that the former Global Dream will debut as the Disney Adventure, and confirmed its plans to deploy the ship to Asia when it starts revenue service in 2025.

Originally ordered for Genting’s Dream Cruises and under construction in Germany at MV Werften, Disney bought the ship in a half-finished state following Genting’s demise in 2022.

The ship will have the capacity for approximately 6,000 guests and will come methanol-real.

After repositioning to Asia, the vessel is expected to start its cruise program out of Singapore’s Marina Bay facility.

The Adventure will join the Treasure, debuting in 2024, and a yet-to-be-named newbuild, also debuting in 2025 and a sister to the Treasure and Wish. In addition, with the Fantasy, Dream, Wonder and Magic in service, Disney will have eight cruise ships sailing by the end of 2025.

Disney Wish Delivery Pushed Back Six Weeks

The introduction of the new Disney Wish has been pushed back six weeks, with the company citing delays at Meyer Werft.

“The shipyard has notified us that despite their very best efforts, they will need more time to finish our ship in part due to the pandemic and particularly the arrival of the Omicron variant in Germany at a critical point in the process,” said a letter sent to guests from Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Cruise Line.

The new maiden voyage date is July 14, 2022. The company is said to be reaching out to booked guests to help them reschedule.

While it’s true, we are shifting the timing a bit our teams are making incredible strides. This ship is going to be everything, Absolutely everything we envisioned, a majestic new member of our family, complementing our other ships while bringing to life incredible new spaces, experiences and entertainment,” Malzoum said in a video sent to booked passengers.

“During my visits to the shipyard, I’ve been absolutely amazed by the innovation and ingenuity our teams are bringing to their work. The future is bright indeed. And you will see a whole new dimension of Disney magic when the Disney Wish launches.,” he said.

Disney Magic Appears in the Mediterranean in 2015

Disney Magic Appears in the Mediterranean in 2015

 By Scott Sanders

We finally have some evidence of the Disney Magic sailing to Europe in 2015 based on a few scheduled arrivals that were spotted by one of our readers on the Civitavecchia port calendar.  The Magic is listed on Civitavecchia’s port calendar 4 times between August 13 and September 1, 2015. The calendar, if accurate, may suggest that the Magic would sail a handful of Mediterranean cruises including three 7-night itineraries. The last three arrival dates appear to coincide with a sailing pattern at the end of the 2014 European cruise season where the Disney Magic is currently scheduled to sail three 7-night Mediterranean before embarking on a Westbound Transatlantic crossing.

Civitavecchia Disney Magic 2015 Arrivals

The lack of calls on the Civitavecchia calendar for the Disney Magic in June and July suggest she may be splitting her time in Europe. Assuming the Disney Magic will sail an Eastbound Transatlantic in mid-May, this could add credence to the Baltic rumors.  In 2010, the Magic’s European season included a series of 12-night Northern European Capitals cruises in June and July with a repositioning cruise to Barcelona to finish her summer season in the Mediterranean.
