Regent’s New Seven Seas Grandeur Delivered by Fincantieri

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’s newest ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur, was delivered at the Fincantieri Ancona shipyard on Monday, November 13, according to a press release.

The Seven Seas Grandeur is the third cruise ship in this series that Fincantieri has built for the cruise line and the last of the Explorer class. The shipyard delivered the Seven Seas Explorer in 2016 and the Seven Seas Splendor in 2020.

With a capacity to accommodate 746 passengers onboard, the 55,000-ton ship has been built using the latest environmental protection technologies.

Sailing from Miami this winter he ship will take guests to visit Caribbean destinations such as Costa Maya, Mexico; Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and St Barthelemy.

The traditional float out ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard on Thursday (13 January) — Viking Neptune

Set to debut in November, the vessel will spend its maiden season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean.

It will then embark on the company’s 2023-2024 Viking World Cruise, a journey from Fort Lauderdale to London that spans 138 days, 28 countries and 57 ports, with overnight stays in 11 cities.

Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking, said: “It is always a special day when a new ship meets water for the first time, and we look forward to welcoming guests onboard the Viking Neptune this fall.

“Together with Fincantieri, we have built the world’s most elegant vessels, which truly allow our guests to explore the world in comfort.”

The traditional float out ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard on Thursday (13 January).

Following a two-day process that will set Viking Neptune afloat, it will then be moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior build-out.

Silver Moon Launched at Fincantieri

The launching ceremony of the Silver Moon took place today at the Ancona yard.

The vessel will enter the ship owner’s fleet in 2020 and is a sister to the Silver Muse, a third 596-guest ship, the Silver Dawn, follows for the luxury brand in 2021.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Chairman of Silversea, while Fincantieri was represented by Giovanni Stecconi, Ancona Shipyard Director.

The godmother of the ceremony was Roberta Bonisiol, an employee of the shipbuilding group.

The new build will be the ninth ship in Silversea’s fleet.

Among the notations of the ship, the “Green star 3 Design” stands out, according to a statement. It is assigned to vessels that are designed, built and equipped in order to prevent air and water pollution. Furthermore, the “COMF-NOISE A PAX” and “COMF-NOISE B CREW” are assigned on the basis of the noise levels measured on the ship.
