Disney Wonder Returns to Alaska for Summer Season

The Disney Wonder recently arrived back in Vancouver, Canada, to kick off its 2025 summer season in Alaska.

After completing a spring deployment on the West Coast, the 1999-built ship returned to its homeport in British Columbia on May 12, 2025.

Sailing round-trip cruises from Canada Place, the Disney Wonder is now offering five- to nine-night cruises that visit Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway.

Some of the sailings also feature visits to additional ports, such as Icy Strait Point, Sitka and Victoria.

Upon completing its summer season in Alaska, the Disney Wonder is scheduled to return to the South Pacific for cruises in Australia.

Before arriving in Sydney in late October, the 1,750-guest ship offers repositioning cruises that sail to Hawaii, American Samoa, Fiji and New Caledonia.

Disney Cruise Line’s summer deployment for 2025 also includes itineraries in Europe, North America and the Caribbean.

While the Disney Fantasy debuted in Europe earlier this month, four other ships are sailing from U.S. ports.

After entering service in late 2024, the Disney Treasure continues to offer a series of seven-night cruises to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

The Disney Wish and the Disney Magic also operate out of Disney’s homeport near Orlando, while the Disney Dream offers short cruises from Fort Lauderdale.

Itineraries are highlighted by visits to the company’s private island destinations in the Bahamas: Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Disney is now getting ready to welcome two new ships to its fleet later this year, the Disney Destiny and the Disney Adventure.

Both new vessels are currently in the final stages of construction at shipyards in Germany.

While the Destiny is set to join the company’s fleet in the Caribbean, the Adventure marks the brand’s debut in Southeast Asia with cruises from Singapore.

Disney Treasure Named in New York

Disney Cruise Line welcomed its new ship, the Disney Treasure, during a waterfront christening celebration on the Hudson River in New York City, the line announced in a press release.

The celebration included a light show featuring Disney adventures on the new ship, including “Aladdin,” “Haunted Mansion,” “Moana,” and “Coco.”

The tribute to the stories and characters was brought to life by a synchronized showcase of 1,000 drones set to a medley of Disney songs.

Jordin Sparks performed a live rendition of “Live the Adventure,” the original anthem of the Disney Treasure.

Bob Iger, chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, said: “Since the launch of the Disney Cruise Line in 1998, our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling and the immersive nature of our theme parks to new audiences in new places all over the world.”

“This is an unprecedented era of growth for Disney Experiences and a dramatic period of expansion at Disney Cruise Line,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences.

“We are doubling our fleet to 13 ships by 2031 to bring Disney cruise vacations to even more families across the globe.”

The Disney Treasure, sister ship to the Disney Wish (launched in 2022) and the Disney Destiny (setting sail in Nov. 2025), will use stories of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Parks attractions to offer new and guest-favorite experiences.

The new ship embarks on its maiden voyage on Dec. 21, 2024, followed by an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Disney Dream Enters Drydock in France

The Disney Dream is currently in drydock at the Damen Shipyard in Brest, France, to undergo a series of significant upgrades.

After completing its summer program in Europe, the Disney Cruise Line vessel arrived at the facility on September 16, 2024.

In addition to routine maintenance, technical work and class items, the Disney Dream will see refurbishment of its public areas during the month-long dry dock.

As part of the project, the 2011-built ship is getting a new funnel suite, as well as revamped youth spaces, a refreshed spa, and additional dining options.

Named the Dream Tower Suite, the duplex funnel suite is being created on the vessel’s forward funnel and pays homage to Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Fantasia movie.

According to Disney Cruise Line, the stateroom will feature Art Deco motifs, celestial-inspired designs and a chandelier reminiscent of a scene from the movie.

The Disney Dream is also receiving a new Concierge Lounge inspired by Disney Animation’s Hercules and its Mount Olympus.

Other new features include a new Mexican cantina restaurant, a revamped spa, which is receiving more treatment rooms, and a new check-in room.

The youth areas onboard will also undergo renovations, with Edge, the tween club for guests aged 11-14, moving to Deck 5 and getting an outdoor deck equipped with a ball pit and more.

After completing the work, the Disney Dream is set to welcome guests back in Southampton for a trans-Atlantic crossing.

Sailing from England to Fort Lauderdale, the 13-night repositioning voyage will depart on October 20, 2024.

Starting in early November, the ship will offer a series of three- to five-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, departing from Port Everglades.

In addition to Castaway Cay, the itineraries feature visits to Disney’s new private island destination of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
